Why does a person have provisional rating after 4k games

I don´t want to reanimate the old discussion... I am still exhausted. ;-)
Nevertheless the "FICS RD way" - increasing RD in inactive times - attracts me. Same on chesstempo.
As you said, playing only one game a week against an inferior opponent to block a top 10 spot is a plague.
I guess the developers are aware of the gap. ;-)

@Nonpareil if you will ever need a person to lose a few games in horde - let me know :-) I am also willing to play correspondence games (even if you are going to win).
