Repeat move

hi,

I played badly in this game but should have got a draw towards the end as we did the same position two or three or however many times the rules say. However I was not quick enough to click the "take draw" button before my opponent had moved again and the button disappeared. Is this how it is in "real" chess?

yes but I wouldn't always want that. Like my opponent in this game, he didn't want to claim the draw (nor did he want me to...)
You can also set automatic draw claim if your time is below 30 seconds.
Besides, you can push the draw claim button before you make a move, so your opponent cannot move before you hit the draw claim button;
Pawner it is not like that in real chess at all. In real chess you can claim Threefold repetition in two cases:
1. The current position currently has been twice on the board earlier and it is your move.
2. It is your move and you are planning(able) to make a move that makes the position happen third time on the board.

I tested it and Lichess does not have the second rule so it comes to speed in your case where your opponent can move quickly and prevent you from pressing the button.

In your game, you could have claimed a draw before your 52th rule IRL OTB. You are not allowed to claim a threefold repetition after it IRL because it is not your turn.
Ok thanks for your replies guys. I will try to wrap my head around kaspers answer!
