Bias Towards White in Chess

Every time I see a topic in Lichess Feedback talking about how they got the same color for a large number of games in a row and them claiming how it is unfair even though their games for both colors are roughly equal, it is always players complaining about receiving black, not receiving white.

Why are the complaints always about black, and rarely about white? They are both equal in chess.
Because you dont care when things are lucky, only when things are unlucky do you notice.
also maybe they havnet practiced openings for black or dont like playing against certain openings

In the lichess database, White scores 52% to Black's 48%. In the Masters database the difference is even larger - 54% to 46%. There's a general consensus that White has an advantage in chess.
I always thought that was strange too. I imagine it's because of White's first move advantage and that you're more proactive in choosing how the game progresses than reactive.
Personally, I don't feel that way. Some of my favorite openings to play are from the Black side and I feel that I still get a heavy hand in how the game progresses no matter what first move White chooses.
They are not equal. That's why two opponents will often play TWO games against each other, switching colors for the 2nd. That eliminates the white bias.
