us politics - union election attack?

I keep seeing ads on YouTube arguing that US sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-mi) supported a bill that would have banned unions from holding secret ballot elections. I have looked at the bill they gave, and the word ballot does not appear. (they point to S. 2810, i don't want to give them more exposure, so i won't link.) I think it is bald-fased lies, but can anyone tell me what they're talking about. Thanks!

edit - spelling
Political ads should universally be ignored. You must do your own research to make smart choices. However, as a lazy rule of thumb, if you see a ton of negative ads against a particular candidate, it's usually a reasonably safe bet to go the opposite way and vote for that person.
That ad is correct. Section 2(c) (s.v. "Notwithstanding...") of that Senate Bill (co-sponsored by Stabenow) describes a controversial process known as "card check" that allows union leaders to see who is (and by exception who isn't) voting for them.

This lack of a secret ballot has lead to employees being harassed by union leaders for not supporting them, or not supporting them promptly enough (like the case where United Steelworkers organizers were told to intimidate migrant workers).

Stabenow has also tried to get this sort of bill through the Senate in the past, but couldn't get all the Democrats on board even when Democrats controlled the Senate.
@elan-the-bard

It's very important to ensure that candidates such as Bernie "Feel My Burn" Sanders and others of like mind are incessantly berated and discredited even if by means of lying to the voting populace. I'm guessing that you're at least of reasonable intelligence if you looked into it yourself, but that vast majority of voters are idiots that can be easily persuaded by simply stating the same thing over and over and over again. That's the beauty of Democracy....it's just so easy to convince the impoverished peasant to vote for the polished republican.

Don't worry, @elan-the-bard, if that negative attack ad runs all the time, I'm sure you'll get a republican in office soon enough. You might be smart enough to see the truth but I guarantee your undecided moron neighbors are NOT! If there's one thing we conservatives are good at, it's making sure we don't invest in a losing venture :)
