The most likely cause of this and similar "bugs" is your browser blocking scripts. Try disabling various adblockers etc. Hope this helps.

Oh, by the way, you can also just reload the page. It won't lose any game progress (heck, you can even close the page and come back to the game later and continue right where you left off). That will definetly work. Although again, I suspect your browser is doing something weird.

I have the same problem from time to time. Mostly when you are "holding" a piece, if the opponent resigns or if you run out of time, then the freeze will occur. My browser is Safari 6.0.5 for Mac, without any extension.
But it's a minor problem, lichess is great ;)

i have this same problem too. Chrome 28.0.1500.72

I've had this problem for quite awhile. I think the word problem is overstating the issue though.

I have learned to just refresh as needed.
