Endgame ignorance hurts the rating

I was surprised when I discovered so many elementary elements in the endgame that I knew nothing about.

I didn't know anything about king opposition, about lucena position, about cat and mouse technique and many other things I recently learned and applied in my recent games.

I have always wondered why I always get a winning material advantage in the middlegame with the toughest players, but throw it away in the endgame, so I end up loosing or drawing when I had to win.

I got a clear and detailed answer about this when I read some rook , king endgames. I'm excited about this because my main OTB opponent used to torture me everyday by trading pieces and embarrasing me in the endgame, but yesterday I tortured him in the endgame for the first time.
Yes, I often beat more talented players because they don't know about how to use the opposition in endgames.
rook endgames are my favorite way to beat lower rated players. i'm also very scared of playing them against players higher than myself
